Lake Macbride Camp Out

Troop 2000's first attempt at a socially distanced camp out will be the weekend of August 14th. The main activities will be working on Early Rank Advancement, First Aid merit badge, Service Projects, Canoeing and general FUN! Cost for the weekend is $35.

Safety precautions for being able to have an in-person camp out include:

  • Scouts will be delivered to, and picked up from the Lake Macbride primitive camping area by a family member (we will not carpool from the church)
  • Bring at least 2 masks with you
  • Tenting alone or with people from your home
  • Tents will be at least 6 feet apart
  • Everyone should come with at least two masks
  • Masks will be worn when not in your tent or eating
  • Once you have your food and have moved away from other people, you can take your mask off to eat
  • Frequent hand washing
  • Failure to follow these precautions will result in being sent home - we take everyone's safety very seriously
Given that we won't have scouts (not from the same family) sharing tents, we may need more than the troop has on hand. If you have your own tent you can bring, please plan to do so. But, if you need a troop tent, we will have them.

Scout should plan to arrive at the campsite between 4 and 5pm on the 14th. Scouts should be picked up by 9am on Sunday the 16th.

Please sign up by 7pm on August 9th so that we can plan for the quantities of food needed.

To get to the campsite, go NE out of North Liberty on Mehaffey Bridge Road. You'll go over the reservoir and then drive over Lake Macbride. Take a right on Cottage Reserve Road as soon as your over the bridge. We'll be in the campsite in the back. If you're staying, you'll need to unload and then park down by the boat ramp.
