OCV District Camporee October 4th - 6th 2019


The fall district camporee is at Belgum Grove (just west of Hills). It will be a weekend of conservation (great for kids who need conservation hours) and scouts will be able to work on the Nature, Fishing, and Mammal Study merit badges! Deadline to register is September 26th.

Wisconsin Cycling Campout

The biking campout hosted by Troop 270 with Troop 2000 invited will be the weekend of August 16-18. Since that is before school starts, we'll plan to leave at noon Friday from the church. It is approximately a four hour drive to the City Park in Norwalk, Wisconsin. This will put us there in time to set up camp and prepare dinner. The plan is to do a 50 mile ride on Saturday and a 25 mile ride on Sunday. Cost is $50 per scout and $10 per adult.

4th Fest Parade

Troop 2000 has an entry in Coralville's 4th Fest Parade on July 4th. Participants will need to be at the staging area in the parking lot of McGregors Furniture (corner of 22nd Ave and 2nd St) no later than 9am. Scouts will be walking and handing out candy. Scout shirt with neckerchief is required. We'll need a couple adults to help. I'll have a wagon along with the group that can store extra candy and water bottles. Summer Camp 2019

July 7-13 the troop will be attending summer camp at Camp Eastman near Nauvoo, Illinois. Registration is now open for both Troop 2000 and Troop 270.

Popcorn Day at Camp 5/4

Troop 2000 surpassed its Popcorn Sales Goal in 2018. This qualified our unit for a free day at Howard H. Cherry Scout Reservation!

Program at camp runs from 9am - 3pm. There will be a free lunch. We will meet at the church at 7:45am. Activities are subject to change, but should include:
  • BB Guns/Airsoft Rifles
  • Fishing
  • Archery
  • Hiking & Nature Trails
  • Games
  • Craft
  • Sling Shots
  • Ninja Warrior Course
You don't have to have sold popcorn or even have to have been in the unit last fall. This is for any current member of Troop 2000. Who doesn't want a free day at camp?

Updated Urban Trip to Omaha


The Troop 2000 March trip will be to Omaha. We'll be at the Amazing Pizza Machine, Henry Doorly Zoo, Strategic Air Command Museum, Omaha Botanical Center, Sky Zone and there will be a merit badge (Reptile & Amphibian Study or Bird Study). Registration is open now.

Lincoln Pilgrimage 2019

The troop will be attending the Lincoln Pilgrimage in Springfield, Illinois the last weekend in April. This will be a large event attracting units from a multi-state area. Rich with history, this will be an opportunity to work toward the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge with counselor Jay Thomas.

2019 Urban Trip - Minneapolis

UPDATE: There was an issue with the reservation at Base Camp. So, this trip agenda will be used in March 2020. Instead, watch for a new post about a trip the same weekend to Omaha. We'll visit the Strategic Air Command Museum and the Henry Doorly Zoo. There will be a merit badge opportunity at the zoo.

The Troop 2000 March trip will be to Minneapolis, Minnesota. We'll be doing a variety of activities including Northern Star Scouting Basecamp, Mill City Museum, Whirlyball, Mall of America (Nickelodeon Universe), Science Museum of Minnesota and the Minnesota State Orphanage. Registration is open now.

Sundown Ski Trip Monday January 21st, 2019


Our Troop Ski Trip will be to Sundown Mountain on Monday January 21st (no school)  
By going on a weekday we are able to get the best group deal on ski rentals and lift tickets. Families are welcome to attend.

Eagle Cave Trip - Jan 2019



We are going to Eagle Cave in Wisconsin from Jan 25th - Jan 27th. We will be sleeping in the cave. There are several activities and a game room. Meals are provided (we don't have to cook this time). The cost for this will be $78/youth and $68/adult. To be guaranteed a spot, you must sign up by November 12. If later than this, it will only be if there is still room (popular venue that books up by other groups).

Camp Eastman Cardboard Campout - Nov 30th - Dec 2nd

Put your camping and winter survival skills to the test. We have reserved a Heated Lodge, with dual high efficiency furnaces, two stories, and a working shower at Camp Eastman for November 30th - December 2nd. Sleep outside or in the lodge, the choice is yours. Build a sleeping shelter out of cardboard.  Note: A night spent outside counts as a night of camping for Order of the Arrow, rank advancement,  and Camping Merit Badge purposes. A night spent in the lodge does not count for anything.   Deadline to register is Nov 25th.

OCV District Camporee Oct 26-28, 2018

The District Camporee in Riverside will have a Star Trek (STEM) theme this year. We're inviting the Webelos from Packs 216, 275 and 2000 to join us.. So, it would be great if we had a good sized group to host them. Come learn  about Star Trek and STEM in the future birthplace of Captain James T Kirk! Scouts will be  doing activities with robotics, astronomy, and more! Deadline to register is Oct 18th.

Lake Iowa - Skills Campout - Sept 28th


September 28-30th, Troop 2000 will be tent camping at Lake Iowa (near Williamsburg) and working on basic scout skills. This will be a great event for younger scouts that need to learn/demonstrate skills for advancement...and also for older boys to demonstrate leadership in teaching the skills. Registration is due 9/23 for $22 per scout.

Wisconsin Bike Ride Campout - 8/24/18


The bike ride camp out will be August 24,25,26. We will be staying at the Norwalk City Park.
The drive is approximately four hours. That Friday is an early out day for school, so we will plan to leave the church at 4 PM. Since we will be getting up there around 8pm, we will plan to stop somewhere along the way for supper the first night. Riding choice of either 25 or 50 miles will be available for Saturday. Specific costs are yet to be determined. Adults on trip are Clark Adams, Justin Williams, Rachel Kerns, and Kathy Hotsenpiller. Deadline to register is August 15th.
