Life to Eagle Checklist.
Checklist for Life Scout to Prepare for Eagle rank. Please follow this exactly!!
Continue to work on BSA Eagle Scout requirements after achieving the rank of Life Scout.
Select an Eagle Scout project. ***
discuss the project with your troop leaders to see if it is a good and
feasible project prior to starting any paperwork.*** If troop
leadership thinks your idea is a good one for an eagle project, then
proceed with the directions below.
Keep track of all man hours that you spend working on all aspects below. Include all hours discussing the project with various people, filling out paperwork, etc... If you have a discussion for an hour with someone. That is 2 people x 1 hours, so 2 hours. Keep track of all hours the entire time.
download the Eagle Project Workbook to
your computer. (Don't just open it and fill it out online, it needs to
be downloaded to a local computer and opened with adobe reader. Fill it out on the computer. DO NOT FILL IT OUT BY HAND.)
Complete the Eagle Scout Project Proposal
portions of the workbook. Complete portions of the workbook prior to
the page for the approval signatures as well as the fundraising section
if your are fundraising, please use the pdf fillable form on a computer,
email a pdf copy to the troop scoutmaster, committee chair, eagle mentor(project coach), and
advancement chair to look over. Revise workbook as needed based on
feedback. This may take a few rounds.
Ask the advancement chair or eagle mentor for the google document with all the needed addresses for unit leaders, etc...
Contact the District Advancement Committee for appointment to obtain district
approval to start your project (Ask Trent Hancock who to contact). Take
the cover sheet and signed workbook to the appointment. Make sure he
signs it.
Once you have the required signatures, scan and email a copy of the workbook to the Troop 2000 Eagle Mentor.
YOU CANNOT START YOUR EAGLE PROJECT UNTIL ALL OF THE ABOVE IS DONE!!
Before you start your project, Complete the Eagle Scout Service Project Plan in the middle of the workbook which is designed to help you with the logistics of the project.
Recruit
help: If you do not recruit, you may have a poor turnout. Talk to
your friends, family, and scouts. Personally ask them to help out. Email
the troop, friends, and family at least two weeks prior to your project
so they can block off their schedule. Make sure the project gets
listed on the Troop Calendar. Email everyone a few days prior to the
project with complete details about the work to be done, what to bring,
tools to bring, safety equipment needs, etc.... Email the group the
day before reminding them about the project again. Post the project
information on our Facebook Group like the emails.
Complete project, including tracking the work hours of all individuals (scouts, other youth, leaders, and other adults) throughout the project.
For
each day worked on the project, immediately submit total hours worked
to the Troop Advancement Chair or Eagle Mentor for each individual scout and leader for service project credit. Please do this immediately after each work session.
When
the Eagle Project is complete, finish the Eagle Scout Service Project
Report (post-project section) of the workbook including completion
signatures at the back of the book. Do not forget to do this part!!
Then scan and email the completed copy of the workbook to the Troop 2000 Eagle Mentor. Your eagle project completion date is when the last signature has been obtained.
When the Eagle Project is completed and all paperwork signed, fill out the Troop 2000 Eagle Project Form Online athttp://tinyurl.com/eagleprojectinfo
While a Life Scout, submit a list of contacts for Eagle Scout Reference Letters to the Eagle Mentor athttp://tinyurl.com/troop2000eaglereferencesReferences come from the following.
1.) Parents/Guardian 2.) Religious 3.) Educational 4.) Employer or other if never employed 5.) Other 6.) Other
The
last two references should not be close family, and preferably not
someone in scouting. They can be another school, religious or job
contact. They can be a neighbor across the street who has watched the
candidate grow over the years and has had some contact with him. Always verify with them that they are willing to do it before submitting your references!!
Complete all of the Eagle Scout requirements and arrange for a Scoutmaster Conference
Once everything above is completed,
contact the Troop 2000 Advancement Chair and have them email you an Eagle Application from Scoutbooks. This is a fillable PDF. Please download it and fill out the remaining items out on the computer. Then print it, sign it and get the signatures of the Committee Chair and Scout Master. Do not fill out anything below the unit committee chair signature section. Then return the form to the Eagle Mentor who will send it to the scout office. You can scan it to pdf and email to the Eagle Mentor. The Eagle Mentor will send it to Tammy at the scout office. You may also need the Eagle Application Assistance report from Troop Master to help with some of the dates on the Eagle Application. You can request that from the Eagle Mentor.
ALL OF THE ABOVE NEEDS TO BE DONE PRIOR TO YOUR 18TH BIRTHDAY!!
A verified Eagle Application will be sent back to the Eagle Mentor
After
receiving the Verified Eagle Application, discuss when you want to do
your Board of Review and the Eagle Mentor will contact the District
Eagle Coordinator for a District Board of Review.
Prior to the Board of Review
Prepare a one-page summary of your Eagle Scout Project
Prepare a one-page summary of your Life Goals and Ambitions/Leadership Positions: This is a statement of
your ambitions and life purpose and a listing of leadership positions
outside of troop positions held in your religious institution, school,
camp, community, or other organizations, during which you demonstrated
leadership skills. Include honors and awards received during this service. Click on the link above for more information.

sure you have the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, Slogan, and Outdoor Code
memorized and that you understand the meaning of each section. Brush up
on the history of Scouts BSA. Brush up on your square, half-hitch,
tautline hitch, and bowline knots. Know how to recognize them and what
they are used for.
Make sure you review your past leadership positions in the troop and how you helped in those positions. You will be asked.

from the national office. This will take about up to 6-8 weeks.
